Recipe of the Week: 3-Ingredient Peppermint Bark

Sometimes a thoughtful, homemade gift is the best thing one can receive during the holidays! These gifts don’t have to be expensive or complicated either. Something as simple as peppermint bark can brighten someones day and is very easy to make. You can put it into individual gift bags to give to friends, family, teachers, coworkers, and anyone else you can think of! Here’s a recipe from The Spruce Eats that you’ll want to bring out year after year!

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces dark chocolate (chopped, or chocolate chips)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate (chopped, or white chocolate chips)
  • 8 peppermint candy canes

Steps:

  • Unwrap candy canes and pulse them in a food processor for 5 to 10 seconds each until they’re crushed into small pieces. If you don’t have a food processor you can also put the candy canes into a large ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them.
  • Take a cookie sheet and cover it in aluminum foil.
  • Melt or temper the dark chocolate.
  • Pour the chocolate onto the cookie sheet and spread it to an even thickness, about 1/8-inch thick. Put tray into refrigerator.
  • While the dark chocolate hardens in the fridge, melt the white chocolate. Stir in most of the candy cane bits, reserving about 1/4 of the mixture for the top.
  • Remove tray from fridge and spread the white chocolate on top of the hardened dark chocolate. Sprinkle the rest of the candy cane pieces over the entire surface and press down slightly.
  • Place the tray back in the fridge for at least 30 mins.
  • Once hardened, break it into small uneven pieces by hand.
