Rio Roundup: Weekend 1
We’ve finished the first weekend of the Rio games. How about a short roundup of the best and worst moments.
Croatia Stuns Spain
We have a basketball highlight and no it’s not from Team USA. Croatia stunned Spain this weekend on a buzzer-beating block from future Philadelphia 76er Dario Saric on a shot from Spain’s Pau Gasol.
Tonga’s Next Top Model
The Olympics Opening Ceremony is always a time to celebrate but to this flag bearer from Tonga it was so much more. His name is Pita Taufatofua and he’s not only the shiniest guy at the Olympics but he is now a global heart throb.
Williams Sisters Doubles Trouble
For the first time ever Venus and Serena Williams lost an Olympics doubles match. To make matters worse, the Williams sisters were the top seed of the tournament and had won gold medals in 2000, 2008, and 2012. I think this tweet speaks for itself.

Katie Ledecky World Record
Katie Ledecky is only 19 years old but she can swim fast, like really fast. Look at this photo of her demolishing the competition and smashing her own world record. She could practically doggie-paddle her way to the gold medal with that kind of lead!

Routine For Aly Raisman
Reigning floor competition gold medalist Aly Raisman performed this weekend. Her routine was without a doubt amazing. Take a look.

I know I enjoyed watching it, I just don’t know about Aly Raisman’s parents.
Olympic gymnastics have surely come a long way. Check out this amazing GIF comparing a gold medal winning vault 56 years apart!
Sofa So Good Kayaking
So you train for four years to medal at the Olympic games. This is for sure the last thing you expect to happen. A kayaker reportedly capsized after hitting a sofa. Yes, you heard that correctly, a sofa. Of course, the kayak has his own Twitter account already.
So there I was minding my own business. #kayaksofa
